A two part photo exhibition

4. Exhibition design

The exhibition of the photography competition winners’ works took place in two former shop floors of the factory that had been transformed into an influential Moscow center for arts and culture. The top floor — a former white wine shop — is a neutral square exhibition space with a high ceiling. There several cruciform exhibition stands were placed to make the space more complex and add new perspectives. Perspective — one of the central concepts in the art of photography — gets materialized within the very exhibition space.

The bottom shop floor — a former white wine shop — is more like a chamber with brick walls and a vaulted ceiling. There the exhibition stands were made to be as invisible and humble as possible to let them visually dematerialize and not to compete for the visitors attention, so they could enjoy both the exhibits and the powerful exhibition space.
